Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Anhydrous and Emulsified creams?

Choosing between an anhydrous cream and an emulsified cream is essentially a choice between pure potency and deep hydration.

1. Anhydrous (Waterless)

Composed entirely of oils and waxes (like our Day Glow Serum). Benefits include no need for synthetic preservatives and higher potency since there are no "fillers."

2. Emulsified Creams

A blend of water and oil. These provide both hydration (water) and moisture (oil) in one step and absorb quickly without residue.

Feature Anhydrous (Day Glow) Emulsified Creams
Water Content 0% 60% – 85%
Texture Rich, oily, "balmy" Lightweight, creamy
Goal Protecting (Moisturize) Adding water (Hydrate)

Pro-Tip: Apply anhydrous products to damp skin to trap moisture for a dewier finish.

How long do your products last?

Since we focus on small-batch, natural ingredients, our products have shorter lifespans than mass-produced brands:

  • Serums & Balms: Best used within 12 months.
  • Body Scrubs & Butters: Best used within 6–12 months. Keep water out of the jars!
  • Bath Salts: Can last 1–2 years if kept dry.
The Fridge Trick: Keeping backup serums in the fridge can extend freshness significantly!
Are Frosty Fern products safe for sensitive skin?

Yes! By skipping mass production, we avoid harsh synthetic preservatives, parabens, and sulfates that typically trigger reactions. However, natural botanicals are potent. We always recommend a patch test on your inner wrist for 24 hours before full application.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

We are 100% cruelty-free. We never test on animals. Our line is primarily vegan, though we use ethically sourced beeswax in some balms and salves for its natural antibacterial and barrier properties. If you are a strict vegan, our Serums and Bath Salts are your best plant-only choice!

Why does my product look different than my last order?

Slight variations are the hallmark of true natural skincare. Seasonal crop changes (sunlight and rain levels) can affect the color and scent of our raw oils. Furthermore, temperature shifts during shipping can affect the texture of whipped butters. The skin-loving benefits remain exactly the same!

Does "Fragrance" on the label mean synthetic?

Not at Frosty Fern. We use Natural Fragrance Oils and Isolates derived from plants via steam distillation. We use the industry-standard term "Fragrance" to protect our custom botanical recipes, but rest assured they are always phthalate-free, paraben-free, and plant-derived.

How long will it take to get my order?

We pour and whip our products to order! Processing takes 2–5 business days. Once shipped, BC orders typically arrive in 2–4 days, while the rest of Canada takes 4–8 business days.
